Siegfried Wolske

Siegfried Wolske (born December 25, 1925 in Berlin ; † December 12, 2005 in Hamburg ) was a German architect .

Life

Siegfried Wolskes school career was interrupted in 1943 when he was drafted into the military. After the war he attended the Charlottenburg grammar school in 1946 , where he graduated from high school a year later. From 1948 to 1952 Siegfried Wolske studied architecture at the TU Berlin . Hans Scharoun gained a decisive influence here , especially his concept of " organic building ".

After completing his studies, Wolske had been working in Cologne since 1952 . He worked in the architectural offices of Hans Schumacher and Hans Schilling . In 1954 he took part in the competition to build the Beethoven Hall in Bonn and won first prize.

During this time Siegfried Wolske moved to Hamburg and worked under Ernst May in the planning department of the Neue Heimat . In 1955 he was commissioned by the city of Bonn to realize the design for the Beethoven Hall. The Bonn hall was his first work. In the following years Wolske went into business for himself. From 1972 to 1984 he entered into a partnership with Peter Erler.
