Siegmar Brecher

Siegmar Brecher (born October 23, 1978 ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , composition ).

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Brecher first studied structural engineering and architectural model making at the higher technical federal teaching and research institute Graz-Gösting , before he began studying jazz saxophone in the jazz department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under Karlheinz Miklin in 2000 , which he graduated in 2007. At the beginning of 2009 he completed the additional pedagogical course in saxophone jazz. He also studied with Klaus Dickbauer at the Vienna University of Music in 2004/05 and with Dick Oatts in 2006 as part of a scholarship in New York City .

After completing his studies, Brecher worked as a freelance musician and music organizer. a. as founder and director of the concert series Fat Tuesday (2005–2011) and the festival of the musician platform Jazzwerkstatt Graz (since 2007). Brecher lives in Vienna. Since 2011 he played (with the guitarist Julian Pajzs and the drummer Valentin Schuster) in the Trio Edi Nulz ; He also belonged to the formations We Love Tuesdays (album Hector's Tripwire (2008), with Jan Balaz , Michael Lagger , Reinhold Schmölzer , Valentin Czihak ) and The Little Band from Gingerland ( Time Out Time , 2012, with Ángela Tröndle , Philipp Kopmajer , Sophie Abraham ). Recordings were made a. also with Angela Trondle , to be heard on the albums Mosaik Dedication to a City (2007) and Eleven Electric Elephants (2009).
