Siegwart Gruder
Siegwart Gruder (born April 24, 1872 in Lemberg , Austria-Hungary , † after 1933) was a German-Austrian actor in the stage and silent films.
Live and act
After graduating from high school, Gruder enrolled as a listener at Vienna University and received artistic training from court actors Georg Reimers , Joseph Lewinsky and Josef Altmann . This enabled him to play his first role at the Burgtheater at the age of 17 . Then Gruder worked on German stages (a lot of touring theater). In 1912, when Gruder was just working at Berlin's Theater des Westens , he was brought in to film. The following year he was also seen at the side of Asta Nielsen : In the spy drama S1 , his most famous celluloid work, Gruder played the father of the Danish screen star.
During the First World War, Siegwart Gruder served for almost four and a half years before returning to the Theater des Westens. Around 1919/20 he also received a few film roles again. In the mid-1920s, he said he was on the artistic advisory board of Richard Eichberg's Eichberg film . Siegwart Gruder, who had also tried his hand at painting, can be proven until at least 1934, but it is possible that he died in the same decade.
