Georg Reimers (born April 4, 1860 in Altona , † April 15, 1936 in Vienna ) was a German-Austrian actor.

Life

Georg Reimers was engaged at the Dresden Residenztheater in 1883 , and in 1885 he made his debut at the Vienna Hofburgtheater . His roles included Egmont, Karl Moor, King Lear and King Ottokar. In 1890 he was appointed court actor, in 1901 a lifetime member of the Burgtheater ensemble, and in 1922 he was made an honorary member. In 1925 he became senior director. In the same year he became a citizen of the city of Vienna . On the occasion of his fifty years at the Burgtheater, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Austrian Order of Merit in 1935 . Reimers, who was on stage to the end, died of a heart attack .

Georg Reimers, father of Emmerich Reimers and Fritz Reimers , and step-great-grandfather of Christoph Waltz , is buried in a grave of honor at the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 32 C, No. 11).

In 1960, in the 19th district of Vienna Döbling the Reimer street named after him.
