Siemens & Halske Sh 13
The Siemens & Halske Sh 13 is a German aircraft engine that was developed in the late 1920s by the Berlin- based company Siemens & Halske and produced until the early 1930s.
development
The Sh 13 was created in 1928 from the Sh 10 by expanding the cylinder bore from 100 mm to 105 mm and improving the valve drive . In the same year it went into series production, which ran until 1930 and comprised 90 copies. In 1929 the two versions Sh 13a and Sh 13b appeared with increased speed and power. Their main connecting rods were reinforced due to the increased load and provided with a white metal bearing. At the same time, the weight was through the use of a crankcase of electron can be reduced. Around 90 engines had also been delivered by 1930. Using the engine series took place mainly in the German private aircraft of the 1930s, as well as in the M23B , with the Fritz Morzik the 1929 tourist plane could decide for themselves.
construction
The Sh 13 is an air-cooled five-cylinder - four cycle - radial engine with carburetor and unit cylinders made of steel with low over the liner pulled down strongly ribbed cylinder heads of cast light alloy. There is no starter or gearbox.
