The type 20 is a type of coaster from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .
history
The series was ordered by various shipping companies and built in eight units from autumn 1960 to early 1964. Initially, the ships were mainly used for small and medium-sized voyages. Later they were found, partly rebuilt and mostly without loading gear , in coastal voyages around the world.
technology
The aft of the two holds has an intermediate deck. Due to the largely undeveloped shape of the hold with little undercutting , this type of ship can also be used in cellulose or parcel wood transport. In addition, the ships have a level tank ceiling thanks to the continuous double floor . Simple wooden hatch covers with a sea-proof tarpaulin cover were used. The ships were fitted with three loading booms with a load capacity of three tons as standard .
The ships in the series are powered by four-stroke diesel engines from various manufacturers, which act on a fixed propeller in the majority of ships.
