Sigfred Taubert

Sigfred Taubert (born September 8, 1914 in Stavanger , Norway , † January 10, 2008 ) was a German manager. He headed the Frankfurt Book Fair from 1958 to 1973 .

biography

After training as a bookseller , Taubert was responsible for press work at the German Book Trade Association from the beginning of the 1950s and was the press spokesman for the Frankfurt Book Fair.

In 1958 he became head of the office for the Frankfurt Book Fair under the publishers' committee of the Börsenverein. In 1964 Taubert became managing director of the Ausstellungs- und Messe GmbH of the Börsenverein and thus officially "Director" of the book fair.

During his tenure, the number of exhibitors increased significantly from around 700 to 4,500, and the trade fair was also given a more international focus.
