Sigismondo Saraceno

Sigismondo Saraceno (* 1531 or 1532; † January 7, 1585 ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman. He was Archbishop of Acerenza and Matera from 1558 until his death .

After Archbishop Giovanni Michele Saraceno's resignation , his nephew Sigismondo was appointed new Archbishop by Pope Paul IV on July 28, 1558 . Sigismondo was only 26 years old, but was considered highly educated theologically. He took part in the Council of Trent . Sigismondo spread the worship of the rosary and enriched the cathedral with new works of art.
