Sigma Alimentos
Sigma Alimentos is the largest manufacturer and marketer of refrigerated and frozen food in Mexico . Founded in 1980 and based in Monterrey, the company is part of the conglomerate Grupo Alfa and has 27,000 employees and annual sales of 2.2 billion US dollars. In addition to Mexico, sales markets include Central America, the Caribbean and the USA. Main products are meat products, cheese (since 1993) and yogurt (since 1994, franchisee of Yoplait ) and convenience food and drinks. In the field of processed chilled foods, Sigma has a market share of over 40% in Mexico, around 17% in cheese and around 15% in convenience products.
At the beginning of 2014, Sigma concluded an agreement with the largest Chinese meat processor, Shuanghui International Holdings, regarding a temporary financial participation by Shuanghui in the indirect takeover of the Spanish meat processing group Campofrío Food Group (brands: including Aoste, Fiorucci ) by Sigma by means of the US, which was taken over by Shuanghui in 2013 - American group Smithfield Foods .
