Sigmar Kratzin

Sigmar Kratzin, Cornerstones of Self-Determination, 2001

Sigmar Kratzin (born May 21, 1940 in Nerchau-Schmorditz near Leipzig) is a former German teacher and a painter of Fantastic Realism .

Life

In 1961 Kratzin graduated from the Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium in Wuppertal, after which he studied painting and set design at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He then completed a degree in natural sciences and art history in Mainz and Saarbrücken.

From 1973 to 1979 he taught as a teacher at the study seminar in Kaiserslautern, and from 1979 he taught in Speyer as a secondary school principal.

Sigmar Kratzin lives today in Dahn in the southern Palatinate.

He is a member of the Palatinate Artists Working Group and the Federal Association of Visual Artists and has had numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, for example in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, France and Japan.

The Brussels Le Soir wrote about his works : "There is no doubt: Kratzin has a lot to say in the succession of the old European fantastic painting. Mind you, he is a militant romantic; in his compositions you can find the unleashed nature, but also the female faces of symbolism and the whole mysterious extravagant abundance of nature. The complexity of this art is evident. " One of Kratzin's smaller works for the centenary of the Memorial Church of the Protestation in Speyer was the design of the obverse and lapel of a commemorative medal together with Martina Ritscher.
