Sigurd Vestad (born July 31, 1907 in Trysil , † January 17, 2001 in Trysil) was a Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Vestad, who started for Nordre Trysil IL and worked as a woodcutter, made his first international appearance at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1930 . There he took 19th place over 17 km and 12th place over 50 km. In his only Olympic participation in Lake Placid in 1932 , he achieved fifth place over 50 km. The following year he became Norwegian champion over 17 km and 30 km and won the 50 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . For this he received the Aftenposten gold medal in the same year . The following year he again won the 30 km run at the Norwegian Championships and finished 15th over 18 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1935 in Vysoké Tatry , he ran in 15th place over 50 km and fourth over 18 km. He completed his last race in 1946 at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. He came in 20th place over 50 km and eighth place over 17 km.
