The Swiss family company Sigvaris Group is a medical technology company with its headquarters in Winterthur . It specializes in the manufacture of medical compression stockings .
The company produces around 9 million compression and support stockings annually . In addition to medical support stockings, athletes are another target group.
Sigvaris develops and produces compression stockings in the three main areas of Medical, Sport and Well Being. The medical compression therapy solutions address the different needs of people with venous diseases. The sports products are intended to improve the performance and recovery time of the athlete, while the Well Being stockings have a preventive function and alleviate early symptoms of leg problems.
history
In 1864 Moritz Ganzoni and Niklaus Barthels founded the company in Winterthur that produced "rubber-elastic textiles". From 1920 the company became Ganzoni & Cie, its former headquarters is now the location of the Winterthur Photo Museum . In 1924, the first foreign branch was founded in St. Louis, France . In 1957 the company's Swiss headquarters moved to St. Gallen .
From 1958 to 1960 the development of the medical compression stocking took place in cooperation with Karl Sigg , which gave birth to the Sigvaris brand, which today also represents the company's name. In the period from 1961 to 1997, further foreign companies were founded in Austria (1971), Germany (1976, delivery center in Memmingen as early as 1961), Brazil (1981), USA and Canada (both 1988). In 1997, Ganzoni St. Louis merged with Textiles Elastiques du Forez to form Ganzoni France. New factories opened in 1997 in Peachtree City (near Atlanta , USA) and in 2005 in Jundiaí (Brazil).
In 2002 the group's headquarters were opened in Winterthur. Sigvaris already became the main brand of the Ganzoni company in 2000, and in 2011 all companies were renamed Sigvaris. With the aim of positioning the products and the company more clearly, Sigvaris became the Sigvaris Group in 2019.
