Sikko Popta Haak

Sikko Popta Haak (also: Sikko Popto Haak, SP Haa k; * July 17, 1876 in Zutphen , † February 9, 1937 in Arnhem ) was a Dutch educator and historian.

Life

Haak had attended high school in his hometown and from September 24, 1894, studied Dutch literature, specializing in history, at the University of Leiden . In 1901 he received his doctorate in philosophy with the treatise Paulus Merula 1558-1607 (Zutphen, 1901) under Petrus Johannes Blok and then worked as a teacher of history and the Dutch language at the higher middle schools in Brielle and in 1904 at Willemsplein in Arnhem. He was also a member of the historical society in Arnhem from 1919 to 1937 and appeared as the author of the Nieuw Nederlandsch Biografisch Woordenboek , under the abbreviation SP Haak. The history researcher, who deserved to process the history of Gelderland , is best known for his biographical essays on Johan van Oldenbarnevelt and Paul Merula .
