The Silberhornhütte is a hut of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) at 2663  m above sea level. M. in Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Bernese Oberland . The hut belongs to the Lauterbrunnen SAC section. It is attractive as the sole tour destination with a visit to the Schwarzmönch or a starting point for an ascent of the Jungfrau . It is an unguarded self-catering hut.

Access

  • From Stechelberg, first follow the Rottalhütte to the signposted junction at around 2019 m. From here follow the white-blue-white markings. Difficulty: T5 . Duration 7 hours.
  • From Stechelberg over the Chatzenpfad. Adventurous, partly exposed and hardly marked path. Difficulty: T6 . Duration 6 hours.

Both approaches are tricky when wet or with fresh snow and are not accessible in winter.

Surroundings

  • Rotbrätthoren (2720 m): directly behind the hut. Easy ascent over slabs and scree.
  • Schwarzmönch (2648 m): Ascent via a partially exposed ridge and smaller climbing areas (max. II, fixed rope). Difficulty: WS
  • Silberhorn and Jungfrau (4158 m): 8–12 hours. Alpine high tour. Difficulty: S
