The Sileo S18 is an eighteen-meter-long, purely electrically operated battery articulated bus in a low-floor design from the German - Turkish bus manufacturer Sileo . The presentation took place in June 2015 at UITP in Milan.

Technology and equipment

It is driven by two electric portal axles, each with two water-cooled asynchronous motors (120 kW each) from the supplier ZF Friedrichshafen ( ZF AVE 130 ). The front axle ( ZF RL 82 EC Rigid Portal ) and the steering system ( ZF 8098 Servocom ) also come from ZF .

The traction battery is housed in the roof structure of the vehicle , whereby a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 300 kWh is used as standard . According to the manufacturer, this enables a range of over 300 km. The battery consists of 474 individual monitored and regulated cells. A charger with 64 kW / 125 A is available from the factory.

The bus has three double passenger doors.

Locations

As part of the testing of new vehicle concepts in local public transport, the vehicle will be used on a test basis by several transport companies (including Bonn and Aachen) from autumn 2015.

Aachen

According to a Europe-wide tender, 13 articulated Sileo S18 buses were to be delivered to Aachener Straßenbahn und Energieversorgungs-AG (ASEAG) from the end of 2016 to 2018 . The first articulated bus was delivered at the beginning of January 2017 and will initially be used for test drives and driver training. The bus is to be used on lines 33 and 73, which according to the original plan should be completely converted to electric buses by 2018. Due to delivery problems, however, no further vehicles have been delivered so far. The reliability of the delivered vehicle is also severely limited.

Bremen

On September 12, 2016, a Sileo S18 was delivered to Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG), it was given the car no. 4997. The vehicle was at the InnoTrans in Berlin from September 20 to 23. After the trade fair, the Sileo went back to the manufacturer in Salzgitter to carry out adjustments, after which the Sileo S18 went back to Bremen.

Fulda

The Rhon Fulda Energy GmbH have Sileo S18 provided in early October 2018, the new generation in service. The vehicle was previously exhibited at the Innotrans in September. It is Hesse's first electric bus, which is now to serve line 6 in Fulda.

Mainz

In October 2019 a Sileo S18 was delivered to the Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft . The bus is to be used for training and test drives. The four buses ordered for regular service are expected in the first quarter of 2020.

Neuss

A new generation Sileo S18 was put into service in Neuss in November 2018, and Stadtwerke Neuss GmbH will use it on line 842 in the future .
