history

From design office to Sileo GmbH

Sileo S12 of the SWB bus and train at Bonn ZOB

Sileo GmbH was founded in 2014. Its origins lie in the development and engineering office Bozankaya Business Consultant & Commerce (BBC & C) founded in 1989 by Murat Bozankaya in Wolfenbüttel . In 1997, bozankaya Metall & Kunststoff GmbH was also founded in Wolfenbüttel, and later it moved to Salzgitter . Over the years Bozankaya has matured from a design office to a system supplier for the vehicle industry. In 2010, Turkish Commercial Vehicles (TCV) was founded in Ankara (Turkey), with which the company itself started bus production. In spring 2012, TCV presented a city bus as its first product. The electric buses from Sileo are also based on this construction. Sileo GmbH was founded in Salzgitter in 2014 to develop an electric bus with a single-cell loading battery system (SCL).

On August 27, 2017, the production hall and administration building in Salzgitter-Watenstedt were completely destroyed in a major night fire.

Milestones

The first order for the delivery of buses was agreed in July 2015 with SWB Bus und Bahn from Bonn ; six Sileo S12 buses were ordered.

Sileo delivered the first battery buses in Thuringia and Schleswig-Holstein in 2016 .

The largest order to date was placed by Aachener Straßenbahn und Energieversorgungs-AG (ASEAG). A total of 14 articulated Sileo S18 buses and one Sileo S25 double articulated bus were to be delivered between 2016 and 2018. The first vehicle went into operation in early 2017. The delivery of the remaining vehicles is not yet foreseeable. A disastrous picture is drawn in a status report by ASEAG on November 14, 2018 for the meeting of the Mobility Committee of the City of Aachen on December 13, 2018. The previously delivered type S18 vehicle can hardly be used due to technical defects and had to be returned to the manufacturer once. Agreed delivery dates were repeatedly not met. Of the remaining vehicles, only one further articulated bus and one double articulated bus have so far been manufactured. So far, however, both of them lack technical approval. Since it cannot be foreseen whether the vehicles will ever receive them, ASEAG is trying to get electric buses from other manufacturers.

Sileo presented its second generation of buses at Busworld 2017. Under the motto "Meet the future - the future begins today", Sileo presented the new models with a new design and a greater range. In addition to the well-known models S10, S12 and S18, Sileo also announced the S25 double articulated bus.

production

Sileo receives the glazed bodyshells from TCV in Turkey. In Salzgitter, the vehicles are then completed with axles, drive technology, energy storage, interior and all other components. Since this accounts for more than 50% of the added value, the buses are given a German vehicle identification number .
