The Sileti ( Kazakh Сілеті ; Russian Селеты Selety ) is an endorheic river in Kazakhstan .
The river has its source east of Nur-Sultan (until 2019 Astana) in the central area of the Kazakh threshold . From there it flows in a northerly direction through the West Siberian lowlands . The river finally reaches the marshland around the outflowless lake Siletitengis . During the spring floods (95% of the annual runoff) the river water flows into the lake. The Sileti has a length of 407 km. Its catchment area covers 18,500 km². In summer, parts of the river run dry. The average discharge at the level Ilyinskoye is 5.8 m³ / s. The river freezes between late October and mid-November. At the end of March / beginning of April it is ice-free again. In some winters the river freezes to the bottom. The river water is used for irrigation and drinking water supply.
