Silke Engler (politician)

Silke Engler (born September 24, 1973 in Rostock ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and since December 14, 2018 mayor of the city of Baunatal and a member of the board of the SPD in the Kassel district .

Career

Engler first attended the Ostsee-Gymnasium in Rostock- Evershagen with a high school diploma in 1992. She then studied law at the University of Rostock from 1992 to 1998 and graduated in 2001 from the Social Democratic Municipal Academy North. She completed her legal clerkship from 2000 to 2002 in the regional court district of Kiel, at the district courts of Norderstedt and Neumünster , in the Segeberg district administration and at the Schleswig-Holstein municipal employers' association. In addition to her training, she worked for a law firm in Norderstedt from 1998 to 2002. After her second state examination in law , she worked as a lawyer in Kaltenkirchen and Hamburg from 2002 to 2006 . Engler was first councilor of the city of Baunatal from 2006 to 2018 . In the mayoral election of the city of Baunatal on October 28, 2018, she received 69.7 percent of the votes. She has been the mayor of the city of Baunatal since December 14, 2018.

Engler is a member of the choir "mehrKlang" (GSV Eintracht), the Baunatal Voluntary Fire Brigade (OT Großenritte) - in which she was active in the operations department until 2017 - and the board of the SPD sub-district Kassel-Land and, since September 2014, chairwoman of the supervisory board of Energie Region Kassel GmbH & Co. KG.
