Silke Heimes

Silke Heimes (born May 25, 1968 in Groß-Gerau ) is a German author , poetry therapist and doctor who has been a professor of journalism at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences since 2014 and who deals with creative writing.

Life

Heimes studied medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and German at the TU Darmstadt and received his doctorate in 1998 with the title Writing as Self-Healing. An experiment on two works by Peter Handke by means of endo- / exopoietic investigation.

She is the author of numerous novels, short stories and non-fiction books on the subject of creative and therapeutic writing. In addition to her clinical, medical work, including in psychiatry, she dealt with poetry therapy , which she introduced in hospitals and on which she published numerous books and articles. Silke Heimes is also the founder and head of the "IKUTS - Institute for Creative and Therapeutic Writing" in Darmstadt,

As a professor of journalism at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, she is primarily concerned with narrative formats in literature and journalism.
