Silo is a modeling program from Nevercenter. Silo fits into the production pipeline as a pure subdivision model . The polygon tool is primarily used for organic models. Silo 3D has been available since 2003.

Silo saves models in its own file format (.sia). Export and import options exist through the use of 3ds, obj, fact, dxf, rib, and pov files.

Functions V 1.4

  1. Creation of polygon objects or subdivision surfaces
  2. Common modification tools (cut, join, separate)
  3. Integration of external renderers
  4. Adaptation of the “look and feel” to reference products
  5. Restructuring of the mesh by simply drawing on the new topology

Use in the production pipeline

Due to the different requirements in animation, print and CAD, more and more specialized tools are being integrated into the workflow within an agency. A product from the "big three" Maya (software) , Softimage XSI or Autodesk 3ds Max is often used as the basis . Special products such as rush , 3D brush , silo and mudbox complement the functions of the master products in the modeling and texturing area.
