Silva Escura is a place and a former freguesia in the northern Portuguese Concelho Maia . The community had 2511 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The townscape is determined by the Igreja Matriz de Silva Escura from the 17th / 18th. Century. It is dedicated to the patron saint of the place, St. Mary .

On September 29, 2013 the municipalities of Silva Escura and Nogueira were merged to form the new municipality of Nogueira e Silva Escura .
