Silvana Lattmann

Silvana Lattmann (born November 8, 1918 in Naples ) is an Italian-speaking Swiss writer .

Silvana Abruzzese Lattmann was born in Naples in 1918 as the daughter of the Neapolitan lawyer Alfonso Abruzzese and the Alba Scanferla. After the early death of the father, the family lived in Sanremo , Rome , Milan and Genoa . Silvana Abruzzese completed a biology degree in Rome and Genoa, which she completed with a doctorate in 1942. In the same year she married the marine engineer and naval lieutenant Michele Sgarlata, who died in the war in 1942 and whose son Massimo gave birth to her in 1943.

After the war, Silvana Abruzzese worked as an assistant and researcher at the Zoological Institute at the University of Milan and at the Marine Biological Station in Naples. In 1954 she married Charles Lattmann and settled in St. Gallen (Switzerland). She has been a writer in her native Italian language since the 1970s. Silvana Lattmann has lived in Zurich since 1993 .

Awards

  • 1984: Individual work award from the Swiss Schiller Foundation , for a professorship .
  • 1997: Prize of the Swiss Schiller Foundation for Malâkut .
