Silvester Hiller (born December 10, 1592 in St. Gallen ; † August 9, 1663 ibid) was a physician and mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Silvester Hiller (also Sylvester Hiller ) was the son of his father of the same name Silvester Hiller (* January 25, 1562 - May 30, 1594), a member of the blacksmith's guild and his wife Justina (* August 2, 1571; † June 22, 1594), Daughter of Heinrich Huber.

He was both a surgeon and a member of the blacksmith's guild; from 1625 to 1630 he was a 911 and from 1631 to 1635 guild master.

In 1636 he was elected councilor and from 1649 to 1653 he was the governor of the Bürglen lordship . From 1654 to 1663 he held the three highest city offices, mayor, former mayor and imperial bailiff , alternating with Kaspar Friederich , David Cunz , Hans Joachim Friedrich (elected 1655) and Hans Joachim Haltmeyer (elected 1660) every three years .

Silvester Hiller's first marriage to Maria Schwarz (born May 31, 1594 - October 29, 1629) had been since July 6, 1618. They had eight children together.

On January 11, 1630, he married Magdalena, daughter of Johannes Hildbrand (1580–1654), mayor of St. Gallen , for the second time . Together they had four children, of whom Heinrich Hiller later also became mayor of St. Gallen.

Since June 8, 1646 he was married to Anna, daughter of Jacob Keller, in their third marriage, the marriage remained childless.
