Johannes Hildbrand

Johannes Hildbrand (also Johannes Hiltbrand ) (born August 3, 1580 in St. Gallen ; † January 8, 1654 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Johannes Hildbrand was the son of Hans Hildbrand, mint master and gold tester, who came from Tettnang and was naturalized in St. Gallen in 1565.

Like his father, he was a mint master and at the same time a banner owner and a member of the tailors' guild.

From 1638 to 1652 he alternated with Lorenz Steiger, Sebastian Schobinger and Kaspar Friederich (elected in 1636) every three years as mayor , former mayor and imperial bailiff .

Johannes Hildbrand was since 1597 in 1st marriage with Anna, daughter of David Wetter, pastor, since 1620 in 2nd marriage with Katharina Hauser, since 1628 in 3rd marriage with Veronica, daughter of Rochus Girtanner (1551–1581), comb maker and since 1639 in 4th marriage with Anna, daughter of Johannes Fridenreich, councilor.

His daughter Magdalena was married to the later St. Gallen surgeon and mayor Silvester Hiller .
