Heinrich Hiller (politician)

Heinrich Hiller (born June 19, 1633 in St. Gallen ; † September 4, 1719 ibid) was a Swiss politician and mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Heinrich Hiller was the son of Silvester Hiller (born December 10, 1592 in St. Gallen; † August 9, 1663 ibid), mayor of St. Gallen, and his second wife Magdalena, daughter of Johannes Hildbrand (1580-1654), mayor from St. Gallen, born.

He was a furrier and a member of the tailors' guild. From 1678 to 1683 he was Obervogt of the Bürglen rule .

In 1687 he was elected mayor. He held the offices of Reichsvogt , mayor and former mayor every three years with Joachim Kunkler (1612–1696) and Johannes Spengler (1629–1700) until 1695, alternating with Ulrich Weyermann and Lorenz Werder (1646–1720) until 1700 and then until 1717 alternating with Lorenz Werder and Georg Wartmann (1645–1727). In 1717 he resigned for reasons of age.

In 1697 he took part in a leading position in the War of the Cross .

Heinrich Hiller was first married in 1657 to Margaretha, daughter of Abraham Huber, a furrier, and in his second marriage from 1692 to Elisabetha, daughter of Johannes Spengler, councilor and member of the weavers' guild. married.
