Silvia Torres-Peimbert
Silvia Torres-Peimbert (born Linda Silvia Torres Castilleja ) (* 1940 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican physicist and astronomer .
Silvia Torres-Peimbert received a BA in Physics from the University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1964 and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of California in 1969 . In the same year she went to the Institute for Astronomy at UNAM, where she became a professor in 1973 and which she was director from 1998 to 2002.
Her research focuses on physical properties in gas nebulas , especially the chemical composition of H II regions. She carried out a lot of research together with Manuel Peimbert .
