Silvio Roberto de Oliveira

Silvio Roberto de Oliveira (born October 3, 1946 in Recife , Pernambuco , Brazil ) is a Brazilian writer. He is seen as the forerunner of the Mangue cultural movement.

His works are mostly located in his home town of Pernambuco and are often embedded in local stories and legends. They belong to the literary regionalismo of north-east Brazil .

Silvio (also Sílvio) Roberto de Oliveira writes poetry, prose and plays. He won several literary prizes, including the Prêmio Othon Bezerra de Melo of the Academia Pernambucana de Letras in 1982 for his book Modo nordeste . He is also the winner of the Prêmio Camilo Castelo Branco literary prize and the Gabinete Português de Leitura for the prose work Saveiro do Inferno . His play Quixotinadas was performed by the Companhia de Eventos Lionarte theater group in Pernambuco and received the Prêmio Funarte de Teatro Myriam Muniz .

In 2005 he gave a reading in Germany at the University of Jena.
