Simon Boerum

Simon Boerum (born February 29, 1724 in Brooklyn , New York Province, † July 11, 1775 ibid) was an American politician . In 1774 and 1775 he was a delegate from New York State to the Continental Congress .

Career

Simon Boerum attended the Dutch School in Flatbush . He then worked in agriculture and in the milling business. At the same time he was also politically active. From 1750 until his death he served as a county clerk in the administration of Kings County . Between 1761 and 1775 he sat in the colonial New York House of Representatives. In the 1770s he joined the revolutionary movement. In April 1775 he was a delegate to the New York Provincial Congress . From 1774 to 1775 he was also a delegate for New York at the Continental Congress. He died on July 11, 1775.
