Simon Brett

Simon Brett (born October 28, 1945 in Worcester Park , Surrey , England ) is a prolific writer of Whodunits . Brett worked on radio and television before becoming a full-time writer in the late 1970s. He is married with three children and lives in the south of England.

Brett has written three series of detective novels (see below). He has also written novels, of which A Shock to the System (1984) is probably the best known thanks to the film version starring Michael Caine as a businessman taking revenge after a missed promotion.

During his career with the BBC , Brett produced the pilot episode of the radio play series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and many episodes of the cult comedy series The Burkiss Way . He is also a renowned sitcom writer, best known for After Henry , No Commitments and Smelling of Roses from BBC Radio 4 . After Henry was later produced for ITV .
