Life

Simon Estes was discovered by the singing teacher Charles Kellis as a member of the university band while studying medicine and psychology. Through his mediation, he received a scholarship to the famous Julliard School of Music in New York.

Like many African American artists of the time, Estes decided to go to Europe, where racial prejudice was not as big a role at the time as it was in the United States. Since then he has sung in all the major opera houses in the world and has performed under all the well-known conductors with the leading orchestras of our time. Concert tours take him to all music centers in the world.

Estes is involved in numerous aid organizations. He teaches singing at Boston University and lives in Switzerland.
