Simon Kollerup

Simon Kollerup (born May 20, 1986 ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats . He has been his country's trade minister since June 2019.

Origin and education

Kollerup grew up in Lild Strand . After completing his high school education in 2005, he completed his military service in the Danish Air Force in 2006 . He studied political science at the University of Copenhagen from 2006 to 2011 .

Political career

From 2008 to 2010 he worked as a student in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . In 2009 he became his party's press spokesman in Copenhagen . Between 2010 and 2011 he was an advisor to the Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen .

In the election in September 2011, Kollerup received a mandate in the Danish parliament, the Folketing, for the first time . He ran for the constituency of North Jutland and has represented it ever since. From 2011 to 2015 he was the local political spokesman for the Social Democrats, from 2015 to 2016 the spokesman for the environment and from 2015 to 2019 the spokesman for agriculture, food, animal welfare and fisheries.

On June 27, 2019, he was appointed Minister of Commerce in the Frederiksen government.
