Lild Strand is a small fishing village with 62 inhabitants on the Danish island of Vendsyssel-Thy in North Jutland .
location
Lild Strand has been part of the Thisted municipality since 2007 . It is located 30 km east of Hanstholm and 22 km west of Fjerritslev on Jammer Bay . The place is separated from the North Sea beach, which is up to 50 meters wide, by a row of dunes . The Limfjord lies south of the Thy Landge . Bulbjerg , a limestone rock six kilometers away, is at 47 meters the highest point in the area and the only bird rock in Denmark. Vejlerne , one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Northern Europe, begins right on the outskirts of Lild Strand .
economy
Originally, the inhabitants of Lild Strand lived mainly from fishing. Since the place never had a port due to the flat sandy beach, the fishing boats were pulled onto the beach with ropes. However, this procedure was discontinued, so that the fishermen are now mostly pulling smaller fishing boats with tractors into the sea. The winch method is only used in Torup Strand, 15 km east, and Vorupør , 50 km west .
Attractions
The former rescue station, built in 1886, has served as a church since 1950. In the immediate vicinity, three bunkers of the German Atlantic Wall have been preserved.
