Simon Reiffenstuel (* 1574 in Gmund am Tegernsee ; † February 8, 1620 ) ( ue is pronounced as a long u, see also the expansion symbol ) was a Bavarian master builder. A different spelling is Simon Reifenstuel .

Life

Simon Reiffenstuel was born in Gmund am Tegernsee and, like his father Hanns Reiffenstuel, was also master fountain and master carpenter and master builder of Duke Maximilian I of Bavaria. Together with his father, he built the brine pipeline from Bad Reichenhall to Traunstein from 1617 to 1619 . The 31 kilometer long line overcame the 240 meters of altitude through seven pumping stations ("Brunnhäuser"), whose piston pumps were driven by 7 meter high overshot water wheels. These bronze pump boots were developed by Simon Reiffenstuel and only made it possible to overcome the height difference and thus achieve this technical achievement, which was extraordinary for the time.

Honor

Reifenstuelstrasse in Bad Reichenhall

Reifenstuelstrasse in Bad Reichenhall was named after Simon Reiffenstuel and his father Hans. This is located in the district of Karlstein , not far from the former brine pipeline and the Fager Brunnhaus, which still exists today . In Traunstein , Reiffenstuelstraße is named after Simon and Hans Reiffenstuel, and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Traunsteiner Saline . The "Reiffenstuel Realschule " in Traunstein is also named after father Hanns and son Simon Reiffenstuel.
