Simon Weinmann the Elder (* 1535 ; † January 7, 1606 in Heilbronn ) was Mayor of Heilbronn from 1603 to 1606 .

Life

Since 1565 he belonged to the small, inner council ("von den burgern"), was mayor from 1575 to 1603 and thus chairman of the imperial court. From 1603 until his death in 1606 he was mayor of Heilbronn . He owned the patrician farm at Biedermannsgasse 19 and Siebeneichgasse 5 ( house Siebeneich ).

Simon Weinmann the Elder was first married to Margarete, widow of the Vogler family . His second marriage was to Ursula Bockher. His son was the future mayor Simon Weinmann the Younger .

The Arms of Simon Weinmann of the elders represents a bearded tenants with Hape in his raised right hand, on a three-Berg is standing. This coat of arms adorns the city coat of arms, which on the east side of the courthouse is appropriate today than meat house is called. In his function as chairman of the imperial court from 1575 to 1603, Simon Weinmann the Elder may have played a significant role in the construction of the meat and court house in 1598/1600. There is also documentary evidence that in 1588 he acquired the wood for the Teucheline of the Cäcilienbrunnen in Hagenschieß .

His tomb was still in Kilian's Church in the late 19th century , then moved to the Historical Museum and later to the Old Cemetery , before it has been stored in the Heilbronn Lapidarium until the present day. It shows both the Weinmann coat of arms and the coat of arms with an ibex growing out of a mountain, the family coat of arms of the (second) wife Ursula Bockher.
