Simona Noja
Simona Noja-Nebyla (born March 9, 1968 in Huedin ) is a Romanian dancer and dance teacher. From 2010 to December 2019 she was managing director of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera .
Life
Noja received training in the Romanian Olympic gymnastics team and ballet training using the Waganowa method in Cluj-Napoca at the Liceul de coregrafie. She completed a degree in linguistics (Romanian-English) at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj . She had engagements as first solo dancer at the Vienna State Opera , Deutsche Oper Berlin , Deutsche Oper am Rhein , Düsseldorf and the Opera Națională Română Cluj-Napoca.
Performances as 1st solo dancer at the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), Teatro Municipal (Santiago de Chile), Ballet de Cuba, (Havana), Bolshoi Theater (Moscow), Milan Scala, Balletto dell'Opera (Roma), Dresden Opera, Teatro San Carlo (Napoli), Royal Swedish Ballet (Stockholm), Finnish National Ballet (Helsinki), Stuttgart Ballet, Frankfurt Ballet, Bavarian State Opera Munich, as well as in China (Beijing), Israel (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv), Japan (Tokyo) and Korea (Seoul).
In 2002 she participated in the establishment of the cultural foundation "Simona Noja" and in 2006 in the establishment of the dance school "dancearts" together with Boris Nebyla . From 2006 to 2009 she was a guest teacher at the ImPulsTanz -Festival Vienna. In 2009 the "renaissDance company & dance arts studio theater" was founded with Boris Nebyla. From 2010 she was the managing director of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera and was invited as a juror to international ballet competitions in France, Japan, Italy, Romania, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA. In 2014 she founded “Studiourile de balet” and “Balet Transilvania” in Cluj-Napoca and was involved as an ambassador for the “Cluj-Napoca-ECOC 2021” project. On December 20, 2019, she was dismissed as director of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy after a commission report had confirmed serious grievances and threats to the child's welfare.
Simona Noja has two children, lives in Vienna and Cluj-Napoca and speaks five languages.
