Boris Eifman

Boris Jakowlewitsch Eifman ( Russian Борис Яковлевич Эйфман ; born July 22, 1946 in Rubzowsk ) is a choreographer and director of a ballet named after him in Saint Petersburg .

Life

He studied at the Chișinău Academy of Music and then at the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory . In 1977 he founded the Leningrad New Ballet (today's St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater).

Eifman was u. a. awarded as People's Artist of Russia , with the Golden Mask , the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Order of Honor .

Today he stages with the Eifman Ballet St. Petersburg , which has guest performances around the world.
