Simone Kues (born November 8, 1976 ) is a German national player in wheelchair basketball . She plays in the first wheelchair basketball Bundesliga for Hamburger SV . With the national team, she won bronze at the World Cup in Amsterdam in 2006, is two-time European champion (2007, 2009), and won the silver medal at the Paralympics in Beijing in 2008 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. With the women's national team, she was also voted Team of the Year in disabled sports in 2008 and received the highest German sports award, the Silver Laurel Leaf , from Horst Köhler .

Life

At the Paul-Gerhardt-Schule in Dassel she graduated from high school in 1996. In the same year she had a riding accident in Ireland, which resulted in paraplegia. After rehabilitation, she began studying psychology and then devoted herself to a sports career.

Career

She played wheelchair basketball first at ASC Göttingen, then at RBV Lüneburg. She finished fourth with the national team at the 2004 Paralympics .
