The Paul Gerhardt School in Dassel , founded in 1946, is a Protestant grammar school sponsored by the Evangelical Regional Church of Hanover , which is attended by students from the Northeim and Holzminden districts . It is a partially tied, mostly four-class including all-day school.

history

The grammar school was founded in 1946 as a school of the Laurentius parish after some students could not be accepted because the Goethe school in Einbeck was overcrowded . On June 26, 1949 it was named after the pastor and song writer Paul Gerhardt . After provisional accommodation in the rectory, the school moved into three existing buildings on a factory site on the Ilme at Easter 1951 . The first graduation ceremony took place in 1957. In 1974 the school was taken over by the regional church as a state-recognized substitute school.

In 2011–2012, the school was expanded to include the Paulinum, a spacious new building primarily for grades 5–6. A second auditorium, called Paula, with a stage is available here. In 2016 the school celebrated its 70th anniversary. From autumn 2019 a newly built gym will be available on the school premises.
