Simone Orlandini (born January 13, 1977 in Livorno , Italy ) is an Italian director , actor , writer , researcher and film producer . He has lived in Germany since 2011.

Life

Orlandini studied art history and theater and film studies at the DAMS University in Bologna. During his studies he founded LIST (laboratorio internazionale per la sperimentazione teatrale) an international experimental theater laboratory that took him to Northern Europe, especially to Denmark to the Odin Teatret by Eugenio Barba . He began his career as an actor and theater director and then continued to work as a film director. He published "Il processo produttivo, Il training dell'attore e Il teatro e la sperimentazione"

In 1999 he founded the production company DNA Cinematografia srl and then Universal Acedemy srl , Triskelion Film Entertainment ltd. , Atlantis Film ltd. And Rebis Film GmbH .

He has written various scripts with producer Alfredo Bini , such as u. a. Waiting , North Pole and Fabbrica . After Bini's death, Orlandini acquired a variety of materials from Bini's estate, including L'Inferno , a film project that the director Franco Zeffirelli wanted to stage in 1974.

Orlandini has directed feature films such as Nuvole Rosse (2001), Fabbrica (2005), Waiting (2013) and some documentaries and experimental films. In 2012 he announced the production of the film Handel , directed by Franco Battiato, with the actors Johannes Brandrup and Willem Dafoe .

In 2014, Orlandini opted for the list Italiani a Berlino as a top candidate and has been an elected member of the Comites for the consular district Berlin-Brandenburg for 5 years since March 2015.

He was invited as a guest to the Films4Climate Conference at the International Film Festival in Guadalajara, 2016 (Mexico), where he presented himself as a producer of the documentary Global Village , directed by Teresina Moscatiello . The film portrays the northernmost research village in the world and its inhabitants and their research into climate change.

Research project

Orlandini is the President of the World Arctic Fund, an NGO for the protection and conservation of the Arctic .

On November 25, 2016, the first scientific expedition POLAR4 was presented in Soho house Berlin , a research expedition to record the state of the seas and the environment at the North Pole and to search for relics of the airship "Italia". This was commanded by General Umberto Noble , who fell after reaching the North Pole.

Orlandini will be the head of the fleet that will visit and explore the North Pole.

The mission is supported by more than 20 international partners such as universities, space organizations, the Cousteau Ocean Futures Society, CNR National Research Council of Italy, the Italian Geographic Society and, among others, Bianca Jagger .
