Simret Sultan G Gebermichael (born July 20, 1984 in Mirara ) is a former Eritrean athlete . She specialized in long-distance and cross-country running.

biography

Simret Sultan won the Cross de Atapuerca in Spain in 2007 and finished ninth at the World Cross Country Championships . In the 5000-meter run at the Africa Games in Algiers , she was fifth. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , Eritrea was the flag bearer during the opening ceremony. Sultan started over 5000 meters , but was eliminated in the preliminary and finished 16th in the final classification.

In 2009 Sultan applied for asylum in the UK .
