The Singener Wochenblatt with a circulation of around 86,000 copies is an independent, advertising-financed and free weekly newspaper that appears on Wednesdays in the district of Konstanz. Six local editions are produced in four local editorial offices in Singen , Rielasingen-Worblingen , Steißlingen and Volkertshausen , Hegau , Radolfzell with Höri , Stockach with Eigeltingen and Orsingen. On July 29, 1967 the first edition of today's "Singener Wochenblatt" appeared under the name "Hegauanzeiger". The Singener Wochenblatt was one of the founding members of the BVDA (Federal Association of German Advertising Papers) in 1987 and the first German advertising newspaper on the web in 1996. At the turn of the millennium, the publisher published a digital and printed history work on the district of Constance. In 2006, the Singener Wochenblatt founded the association "Menschen helfen eV", which takes care of people in need who are not helped by any authority or aid organization and who fall through the social security network.

concept

The founder of the publishing house, Hans-Joachim Frese, recognized that 'free regional information and advertising for everyone' was a niche in the market and followed the topic of 'local identification' as a guideline. He was only able to win large retail companies and nationwide advertising agencies as local customers if he transported their advertising over a large area. These companies did not want to negotiate advertising with many "small" newspapers. This resulted in a cooperation of advertising papers with the advertising association "ABC-Südwest" with a total circulation of over one million copies. The advertisement is published at a central point instead of with several publishers. The "Wochenblatt" became the center for other weekly newspapers in southern Germany (from Karlsruhe to Freiburg and from Friedrichshafen to Freudenstadt). Since Hans-Joachim Frese's death in 1989, the publishing house has been run by his daughter, Carmen Frese-Kroll.

Today, Singener Wochenblatt GmbH & Co. KG publishes eight regional editions a week as well as other print products, such as the semi-annual leisure guide "Where to" or local shopping guides for Singen and Stockach. Club newspapers and commemorative publications are also produced here until they are ready for printing, for example the fool's newspaper of the Poppele-Zunft Singen. A full-service advertising agency is connected to the publishing house with its in-house communication agency concept +. A permanent editorial team provides information about regional events from politics, culture, economy or club life. When the RAF terrorists Günter Sonnenberg and Verena Becker were arrested in Singen in 1977, the Singener Wochenblatt was the only newspaper in Germany to take photos of the evacuation of the injured, which were then published nationwide.

distribution

According to a reader analysis from 2013, the reach of the Singener Wochenblatt is 75.2%. (LpA = readers per issue). That corresponds to 115,978 readers. The latest reader analysis from 2018 shows an LpN value (readers per number) of 92.6 percent in the area for the print edition only. (Zielpunkt Marketing GmbH) The digital reach is IVW-checked and is shown on the IVW website under ivw.de.
