Community structure

The municipality of Steißlingen with the formerly independent municipality of Wiechs includes seven villages, hamlets and farms. The village of Steißlingen, the hamlet of Maiershöfe as well as the farms Hardmühle and Ziegelhof belong to the municipality of Steißlingen as of June 30, 1972. The village of Wiechs and the hamlet of Schoren belong to the former community of Wiechs. The Hard Nord industrial area and the Hard Süd industrial area created in 2009 are also located in the Steißlingen district .

history

Environmental-historical and archaeological investigations of the seasonally layered sediments of the Steißlinger See exemplify the development of the landscape over the last 16,000 years for Central Europe. The first archaeological finds in the Steißlinger district go back to the Middle Stone Age. The name Steißlingen itself is of Alemannic origin. The first documentary mention was made in 1155, Steißlingen is mentioned in the so-called Barbarossaurkunde and designated as the property of the diocese of Constance . Around 1400 the place came to the Landgraviate of Nellenburg and with this in 1465 to Upper Austria . A major step in the development, the year 1499, when the village Steißlingen and Wiechs in Swiss war were looted by the Confederates and burned.

BW

The Lords of Homburg (which can be documented since 1096) have been named as Steißlinger landlords since 1287 , who presumably had resided here for a long time and were former ministers of the Bishop of Constance. They remained local lords until 1566. Steißlingen belonged to the knightly canton Hegau-Allgäu-Bodensee of the Swabian knight circle. In 1499 the villages and castles of Steißlingen and Wiechs were plundered and burned down by the Confederates. A castle built afterwards in Steißlingen was badly damaged in the Thirty Years' War and was replaced by today's castle in 1724–1726. Since 1672 the Ebingers were the landlords of the castle . After it died out in 1780, the barons of Stotzingen acquired the castle, which they still live in today.

In 1810 Steißlingen became Baden .

When the Stockach district was dissolved in 1973, Steißlingen was assigned to the Konstanz district .

Religions

Due to the fact that it belongs to Upper Austria, the Reformation passed by Steißlingen, so that the majority of the population still belongs to the Roman Catholic Church today. In addition to the St. Remigius Church in the main town, there are also three Roman Catholic chapels. Since 1957 there has also been a Protestant church in the village with the Friedenskirche .

Buildings

  • The Steißlinger Torkel : Torkel (from Latin torquere , 'to turn', torculum 'wine press') are both wine presses and the building in which they are located. Construction of the current Torkel began around 1500, and in 1620 there were eight large trukh ' Torkeln ' in the Steißlinger Herrentorkel. In the 19th century viticulture declined due to bad harvests and vine diseases, and in 1912 a fire broke out in the Torkel. Due to new vine diseases, viticulture gave way to fruit growing in 1929, and the Herrentorkel fell into disrepair in the 1960s and 1970s. The first restoration measures were carried out from 1976 to 1979, in 1991 the municipality bought the Torkel, and from 2003 to 2004 fundamental renovation measures were carried out on the building (restoration of the Torkel trees and the Quetsche). In May 2004 the inauguration and handover of the renovated Torkel to the population took place.
  • The primary and secondary school , built in 2000, has received several architecture and ecology prizes for its innovative wooden architecture, and in 2014 it was expanded to include a community school.

Economy and Infrastructure

Spatial planning

According to the State Development Plan 2002 of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics, Steißlingen belongs to the central area Singen (Hohentwiel) and the upper area of Constance . Steißlingen is characterized by rapid growth in terms of both commercial and residential developments. The land use plan of the Agreed Administrative Community (VVG) Singen shows further gravel mining areas, so that forest still has to be cleared. The densification of residential developments will also become more important in Steißlingen in the next few years. The built-up area is now 8%. VVG Singen has also drawn up the wind zoning plan , which provides for 3 wind turbines on the Steißlinger Kirnberg. Several citizens' groups criticize the plans for gravel extraction and wind turbines.

Established businesses

369 commercial enterprises (December 31, 2012, including ancillary trades) are registered in Steißlingen. This corresponds to a decrease of 0.3% in 2012. The Steißlingen industrial park has now been expanded twice within 5 years. Well-known companies such as Dachser SE or MAN have their business premises there. Rafi Dekotec has also settled there and contributes to the large number of jobs. In 2015 the industrial area was expanded again to include the Vor Eichen industrial area. The Mühlenweg industrial park is also growing. Among other things, the Lake Constance Driving Safety Center is located there.

The sports area in Mindlestal and the soccer field in Gartenstraße can be used by everyone outside of school and training times. The Mindlestal sports area consists of two soccer fields, an athletics facility, tennis courts, the Mindlestal sports hall and a climbing wall. The clubs TuS Steißlingen, FC Steißlingen and TC Steißlingen have their most important sports facilities in Mindlestal. TuS Steißlingen is the association with the largest number of members with over 1300 members. The handball players at TuS Steißlingen are active nationwide. The first men's team plays in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , the first women's team also in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . Some youth teams are active in the South Baden league.

There are ten playgrounds for children and young people throughout the municipality. Particularly noteworthy is the multi-award-winning play and gymnastics garden at the elementary and secondary school with the Werkrealschule as well as the newly created playground on the Rehmenbach. Both playgrounds were largely built in-house.
