The Siniolchu is a mountain in Sikkim (India) in the Himalayas .

It is the eastern cornerstone of the Kangchenjunga massif and is considered one of the most beautiful mountains on earth.

Ascent history

As part of a German Sikkim expedition in 1936, Karl Wien and Adolf Göttner managed the first ascent of the 6,888  m high mountain. The ascent route led over the northwest ridge. The second ascent of Siniolchu also succeeded a German mountaineering group a year later. On September 25, 1937, Ludwig Schmaderer , Herbert Paidar and Ernst Grob as well as the porter Pency reached the summit.
