Sinnan Ike ( transcription from Japanese 新 南 池 'New South Sea' ) is a lake on the Crown Prince Olav coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is the largest lake in the Shinnan Rocks on the western flank of the Shinnan Glacier .
Japanese scientists mapped it using aerial photographs taken in 1962 and surveys made in 1974 . It was named in 1977.
