Sinphet Kruaithong ( Thai สิน ธุ์ เพชร กรวย ทอง ; born August 22, 1995 in Chumphon Buri ) is a former Thai weightlifter .

biography

Sinphet Kruaithong could n't get a medal when he participated in the 2014 and 2015 World Championships .

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , he competed in bantamweight and won the bronze medal. This made him the first male Thai weightlifter to win an Olympic medal. However, his victory was overshadowed by the death of his grandmother, who died in Thailand while watching the competition and celebrating her grandson's medal win.
