The Siphonopidae are a family of the sneak amphibians (Gymnophiona) that occurs in South America.
features
Like all sneak amphibians, the Siphonopidae are worm-like amphibians without limbs and with a strongly receding tail. The Siphonopidae are the only viviparous (live-bearing) sneak amphibians that have an imperforate stapes ( ossicles ) and that lack the inner row of teeth in the lower jaw.
Phylogenetically, they are defined as those sneak amphibians more closely related to Siphonops annulatus than to Dermophis mexicanus or Hypogeophis rostratus .
