The Sipro Steel Holding AG (market presence SIPRO or SIPRO STAHL SWITZERLAND ), headquartered in Geroldswil is an internationally active Swiss group of companies in the steel trading sector .
The core business of the group of companies is the sale of long steel products in the areas of quality, precious construction and stainless steel. These are purchased directly from the mostly Italian steel producers via the company's own trading companies and are mainly sold on as input material for the automotive , construction and machine industries , for the stockholding trade and as ready-to-install parts for rail and large- scale industries in Europe .
The SIPRO Group currently employs 45 people and achieved sales of 780,000 tons of steel in 2018.
history
The company, now in its second generation, was founded in 1968 by Fred Wüthrich as SIPRO Siderprodukte AG . This is still mostly family-owned under the umbrella of SIPRO STAHL HOLDING AG .
The basis of the SIPRO Group is based on the sales rights acquired over the years from the Italian steelworks groups Beltrame, Lucchini and Venete for the German-speaking area and other European countries such as B. Benelux, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey. From 1982 onwards, Sipro Siderprodukte AG was joined by other trading companies, initially Sipro Beltrame AG, Lucchini Siderprodukte AG in 1992, Venete Siderprodukte AG in 2006 and Donalam Siderprodukte AG in 2007. In 2018, the plate mill "Laminoire des Landes" in Bayonne (France), which produces heavy plate and has a production capacity of 500,000 tons, was completed with the Spanish steel company Hierros Añón SA. Due to the successful cooperation with the PITTINI Group, PITTINI Siderprodukte AG was founded on January 1, 2019, which is responsible for the sale of wire rod to Germany.
