Long product

Long products or long products are metal semi-finished products and alloys obtained by rolling , drawing or forging with a constant in the length of cross-section are produced and not to the flat products include, as their length is much greater than its thickness and width.

According to  DIN EN 10079 , the main generic terms long and flat products or products are intended for steel products.

A distinction is made between the following long products:

• Long products wound in bundles such as drawn or rolled wire (from about 5.5 mm in diameter)
• hot-formed rods ( steel bars )
• forged bars (bar iron )
• Hollow boring bars
• Bright steel
• Ribbed and profiled concrete or prestressing steel , with predominantly round cross-section
• Hot-rolled profiles or shaped steel are products with a defined cross-section. They are sent as a stick.
  • Rails as special shaped steel, manufactured up to 120 m in length
  • Sheet pile walls as special long products that are required for fastening in civil engineering .
• welded profiles (e.g. box girder )
• Cold profiles
• rolled or welded tubes and hollow profiles
• other products ( open- die , drop forged , cast and powder metallurgical products such as rings, wheel tires or discs).
