Sirra Wally Ndow-Njie

Sirra Wally Ndow-Njie also Sirra Wally Ndow-Njai is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

Ndow-Njie initially worked on the National Investment Board. From 1996 to December 2009 she was Deputy General Manager of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC).

On 22 December 2009 Ndow-Njie was by President Yahya Jammeh to the cabinet (as Minister for Energy English Minister of Energy ) appointed and sworn in on 23 December 2009 in office. She was replaced in office on June 7, 2010 by Ousman Jammeh .

On 16 February 2015 this was as Minister of Petroleum ( Minister of Petroleum ) appointed by the president and held this office until June 2016th

In September 2019, the results of the Janneh Commission , a committee of inquiry set up by President Adama Barrow to investigate Jammeh's financial activities, were published. Accordingly, she was involved in the embezzlement of public funds amounting to about 3.8 million US dollars. She said that she was aware of the illegality but had no way of opposing Jammeh. As a result, she was banned from public service for life and banned from running a state-owned company for ten years.

Honors

Ndow-Njie was awarded the Order of the Republic of The Gambia / ORG in 2010.
