The Sisu SA-110 was a prototype truck produced in 1986 by the Finnish vehicle manufacturer Sisu Auto . A total of six trucks were made. The drive formula is 4 × 4 and the vehicle is partially armored.
The initiative for vehicle development goes back to the Finnish armed forces, which in April 1983 submitted a request for a light off-road truck to Sisu-Auto. At that time, the armed forces planned to buy 1,000 such vehicles. Sisu-Auto handed over one of the prototypes for testing at the end of 1986.
Technical specifications
Sisu-Auto opted for two engine variants: Deutz BF 6 L 913 and Valmet 411 DSJ. The Valmet 411 DSJ engine was installed in four vehicles. A ZF-S5-35 / 2 gearbox and a self-designed two-speed reduction gearbox were used as the gear unit. The axles were portal axles equipped with disc brakes and a tire pressure control system.
Unlike the Masi , the frame was stiff and the wheels took over part of the suspension. The front axle was equipped with coil springs, the rear axle with parabolic leaf springs.

Tests showed that the SA-110 was best suited for the task at hand. The engine started at −25 ° C. The vehicle drove in 60 cm deep snow and 75–85 cm deep water without any problems. It could climb hills with an incline of 30 ° and had a slope angle of 25 °. Because of these properties, the vehicle became known as the " Unimog killer".
The deficiencies were too little engine power, too little torque and also too high a noise level; the highest value measured in the cabin was 88 dB. The turning circle of 9.40 m was considered too big and the gear ratios of 3rd and 4th gear were criticized.
The excessive price of the vehicle was one reason why series production was not started, as the costs exceeded those of the Masi by around 85% and those of the Pasi by 50%.
